Thomas J. O’Keefe

Chief Executive Officer

Mr. O’Keefe has over 20 years of software sales, marketing, and leadership experience. Mr O’Keefe served as CRO of ShopIgniter, a venture backed social commerce provider and EVP of TigerLogic, leading their social and mobile initiatives. Prior to that Tom was the COO of EthicsPoint Inc, a SaaS based platform player in the post Sarbanes Oxley compliance market. EthicsPoint quickly transitioned from start-up to 20+ million in revenue in 2010 and a pre-liquidity position as the market leader of on-demand compliance case management. EthicsPoint was acquired by Riverside Capital in March of 2012. A graduate of West Virginia University, Mr. O’Keefe is currently on the board of “Start Making A Reader Today” (SMART), championing pre K to third grade reading literacy, and is a past trustee of the Oregon College of Art & Craft.  He also serves on a number of advisory boards helping local start-ups.

Stephen J. Datena, M.D.

Founder & Chief Scientist

Dr. Datena, the founder of  AkēLex, is a trauma surgeon and medical educator. Dr. Datena conceived the original processes and methodologies that were developed into the core decision analysis and knowledge management technologies of AkēLex and co-invented the Adaptive Knowledge Engine. Dr. Datena graduated from the Indiana University School of Medicine in 1984, and completed surgical residency at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis (1989).

Chris Strear, M.D.

Chief Medical Officer

Dr. Strear graduated medical school from the University of Pennsylvania in 1994.  He has been with AkēLex for the past five years and is responsible for developing and implementing medical content and designing workflow integration.  Dr. Strear is an attending emergency physician at Legacy Emanuel Medical Center in Portland, OR, an urban tertiary care and trauma center.  He was previously the Director of Operations and Patient Flow at Legacy Emanuel Medical Center where he led a task force that saved over $3 million in operational efficiencies in its first year.  Dr. Strear is on the Board of Directors for Northwest Acute Care Specialists and is their Compliance Officer.

H David Silverman

Chief Financial Officer

Mr. Silverman was formerly VP, Finance at ProSight, where he raised over $40 million in venture financing and led the sale of ProSight to Primavera Systems Inc.  At the PRT Group Inc. , he was the VP, Operations and was responsible for managing the company’s software engineering center in Chennai, India as well as the Software Process Improvement Group.  He was awarded the Humanitarian Service Award while serving in Bangladesh in 1991.  Mr. Silverman holds a Bachelor of Science from the United States Military Academy at West Point and a Masters in Financial Analysis from Portland State University.

Robert Beck

Director Technology Development

Mr. Beck was a co-founder of Sequent Computer Systems, in 1983, where he was the primary designer and implementer of all aspects of Sequent’s symmetric multiprocessing operating system (Dynix: initially a version of 4.2bsd UNIX), including mutual exclusion primitives, virtual memory, file system, process model, and device driver interfaces. In his later years at Sequent, Mr. Beck became involved with object-oriented technologies, including work in Smalltalk and Object Oriented database systems. Mr. Beck holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Mathematics from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and a Master’s degree in Computer Science the University of Wisconsin, Madison.

Steve Vogeltanz

Vice President, Sales

Mr. Vogeltanz has over 25 years experience in sales and business development positions marketing enterprise systems and application software.  Prior to joining AkēLex Health, he held numerous management and senior management roles at Sequent Computer Systems, Data General, IBM, Tektronix, Kronos, Kapow Technologies, and ProSight, where he consistently delivered significant growth.  Mr. Vogeltanz holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Masters in Business Administration degrees from Willamette University.  In addition, he completed the Stanford University executive education series on Marketing Strategies for High Technology Companies.

George Reigeluth, PhD

Vice President, Business Development

Dr. Reigeluth was formerly the Vice-President for Business Development for Isabel Healthcare, an international provider of diagnosis decision support and medical knowledge platforms.  Prior to that he was the co-founder of Decision Resources and Managing Director for fifteen years of that company’s European business in developing and providing healthcare data, research and modeling services on the healthcare delivery systems of different European countries. Dr. Reigeluth holds a BA degree from Williams College, an MA from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies, a PhD from Johns Hopkins University and completed post-doctoral work at MIT.

Bart Lonchar

Director of Information Engineering

Mr. Lonchar is a co-founder of AkēLex, where he co-invented the company’s knowledge engine technology and built solutions for capturing knowledge for use by the AKE.  He is an experienced, hands-on software engineer and data scientist with in-depth experience in designing and building systems that transform data into information, and information into knowledge.  Most recently, Mr. Lonchar has been a consultant where he built solutions for mobile micro-targeting and media analytics, and Director of Analytics at iovation where he developed solutions to device identification and risk assessment.  Mr. Lonchar holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Information Systems from Idaho State University.
